About Me

Hello. I’m Charlotte and I’m a writer, poet and family history researcher from Dorset.

Writing

My love of writing began when I was in the junior school. At that time it was writing stories. As a teenager I discovered poetry and had a few poems published in anthologies. When I started work with an ICT company, writing took a back seat to my office career. After 15 years in that job, my ME diagnosis meant an enforced redundancy. Not long afterwards I began blogging. It took me time to find my writing feet again and feel confident with it, but the learning curve has been worth while.

I now write personal stories about my life as a disabled person, as well as my health conditions – ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) and cancer. I have also written articles about ME and coping with stress.

I’ve recently started writing book reviews which can be read on my blog and Goodreads. I mainly write reviews on autobiographies, biographies, social and domestic history and women’s history.

Family History Research

Social and domestic history have long been my interests, so it was no surprise that I started researching my own family tree in 1998. After 25 years of research I’ve taken two lineages back to the late 16th century, and have researched numerous family trees for relatives and friends. I’ve written articles on stories I have found in my own tree, and have had an article published in the Hampshire Genealogical Society journal.
